ROFGO Junior Oliver Goethe claimed a win and a podium finish at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari last weekend extending his lead in the Euroformula Open championship.

Goethe returned to the Euroformula Open paddock following the summer break and his successful guest appearance in FIA F3 with a 70-point lead in the championship.

He picked up right where he left off in Hungary and topped the timing sheets in Friday’s practice. He then went on to post the fastest lap time to secure his fourth pole position of the season.

Starting from P1, Ollie dominated race 1. He led every lap and finished 10,6 seconds clear of his second-best competitor to complete his third Grand Slam of 2022.

Sunday turned out to be more challenging for the young Dane. He had to start both races from P6 due to the reverse grid regulations, but he still managed to grab another podium finish in race 2 and crossed the line in P5 in the afternoon, bringing home a good haul of points to extend his championship lead to 81 points with three more rounds to go.

Oliver Goethe:

“It wasn’t my strongest weekend, but I still got some important points in the bag. Saturday’s race was perfect, but Sunday turned out to be quite challenging. Qualifying on pole and winning the first race threw me to the back of the grid and it is really difficult to overtake on this track, but I still had some great battles and got on the podium. “
